‘En este núcleo, el contacto entre cuerpo y material se despliega a través de acciones como tocar, presionar, desplazar o repetir, dando lugar a marcas que no son solo efectos formales, sino registros de un acontecimiento. En ellas se evidencia tanto la intervención del cuerpo como su exposición a lo que lo rodea, mientras la materia actúa como un agente que incide, responde y condiciona. En este sentido, la piel excede su función como límite individual —en términos físicos y simbólicos— para convertirse en una zona de intercambio con lo colectivo. Ese encuentro nunca es neutro: implica fricción, negociación y toma de posición. El contacto se configura así como un espacio donde se inscriben formas de respuesta y agencia. A partir de estas operaciones, el cuerpo, entendido como superficie sensible y herramienta, activa modos de habitar y de vincularse con el entorno desde una experiencia encarnada’.

Being Volcana

A solo exhibition at Atelierhaus-Mengerzeile - Berlin.

This exhibition is a reconstruction of an intimate space and a living dialogue with a non-human being: the Popocatépetl volcano. The memories and concerns of the artist herself and of the people living in the area surrounding the volcano, including the Tiemperos (people who speak to the volcano on behalf of their people), are recounted in a voice-over, in the form of a whisper. A polyphony, expressed in the first person and in the present tense, in which the quest to capture the volcano’s vibrations, the observation of the body as a site of exchange, and the exploration of orality as a sensitive memory form the central thread of this dialogue, which is presented as a convergence of living forces.MORE..

Esta persona, cautivada por la benevolencia de la fiera, se ha entregado a la tarea de cuidar lo que entre sus manos transporta. Se trata de una pequeña llama de vitalidad, una semilla antigua que no ha dejado de ser transportada por todas las vidas que han cruzado las grandes aguas.
